Connect the problem to an artifact
The intake problem leads to a process map, requirements and test evidence. These let a hiring manager see what you actually produced instead of reading a list of BA terminology.
Respect decision ownership
Supporting UAT does not mean owning release approval. State who decided, and avoid claiming business impact that was never measured.
Make technical skills concrete
SQL joins and data checks explain the level of use more clearly than an unexplained proficiency bar. Include only the methods relevant to the vacancy that you can discuss.
Limited experience or no measurable achievements?
- Moving from operations? Keep your real job title. Describe a requirements, reporting or workflow task within it instead of renaming the job Business Analyst.
- No professional BA experience? Rename Experience to Relevant projects and label a coursework or volunteer case study. Include assumptions, sample requirements and a limitation.
- No savings figures? Name an approved requirement, resolved ambiguity, test finding or decision supported. Do not imply the work increased revenue or reduced costs without evidence.
Before you submit
- Tie each major bullet to a business problem and a deliverable.
- Separate your contribution from the product owner's or team's decision.
- Check that requirements, process mapping or UAT terms reflect work you actually did.
- Remove confidential client names, screenshots and internal data from portfolio samples.
- Verify dates, replace placeholders and use the file type requested in the vacancy.
